Journey to the West

How to play

The game is played on a grid of 5 reels with 25 paylines, so a win forms when matching symbols land along one of those fixed lines. Before spinning, the player sets the stake, then either spins by hand or hands the repetition over to Autoplay. Wild Symbols can stand in for others to complete a line. Landing the Free Spins trigger moves play into the bonus round described below. Because the volatility is low, results tend to come in steady, modest amounts rather than rare swings; the guide on volatility explains the term in more detail. For anyone new to line-based layouts, the page on paylines and ways covers how lines are counted. The slot also opens on mobile, so a session can continue away from a desktop.

Theme and symbols

The setting follows the classic adventure of Journey to the West, and the symbols are drawn from its four heroes: Wukong, Xuanzang, Zhu and Sha. Each character appears as a named symbol on the reels, which gives the game its story-driven look. Browse more titles in the slots lobby to compare other themes.

Features

Free Spins: during this round the player chooses one symbol to be stacked on the reel strips. Stacked symbols fill several positions of a reel at once, which makes it easier to build matching lines across the 25 paylines. For a general explanation of how such rounds work, see the guide to free spins.

Multiplier: inside the Free Spins, a multiplier can climb as high as 5x, increasing the value of wins collected during the round.

Wild Symbol: substitutes for other symbols to help complete winning lines.

Autoplay: runs a chosen number of spins automatically.

The overall ceiling is 1000 times the stake; the guide to max win describes what that figure means. More from the studio is gathered under all Pragmatic Play games.
