Free spins in slots explained
The term "free spins" covers two different things: a feature built into a slot game, and a promotional offer from a casino. They look similar on screen but follow different rules. This guide explains both and how they apply at JOKR Casino. 18+ only.
Game feature free spins
Most modern slots include a free spins round as part of the game itself. It is not a gift from the casino. It is a mechanic that the studio designed, and it is triggered by play.
- Scatter trigger: landing a set number of scatter symbols anywhere on the reels usually starts the round.
- Fixed bet: the spins are normally played at the stake of the spin that triggered them.
- Retriggers: many games let more scatters during the round add extra spins.
- Multipliers: some slots add multipliers that grow or stay in place during the round, raising the value of wins in that round.
The details differ from slot to slot, so read the info or paytable screen before you play. Features, symbols and limits are set by the studio.
Bonus buy
In some titles you can pay a set price to enter the free spins round directly instead of waiting for scatters, where the studio allows it. This usually costs a multiple of your bet and can make results swing more. Our bonus buy guide covers it in detail.
Promotional free spins
Promotional free spins are given by a casino as part of an offer, for example with a deposit or a campaign. They normally come with conditions such as a specific game, a bet value, wagering on winnings and an expiry.
At JOKR, the running offers are listed on the promotions page: a welcome bonus where you choose one offer or none, weekly reloads, Epic Friday chests, cashback chests and rakeback on Originals. That page does not list a promotional free spins offer, so do not expect one. If that changes, it will appear there and in the bonus terms.
Free spins and volatility
How often a free spins round arrives, and how much it can pay, depends on the slot's volatility. A high-volatility game may go a long time without triggering the round, while a lower-volatility game tends to trigger more often with smaller results. Nothing guarantees a trigger or a win, and long losing runs are normal.
Finding slots with free spins at JOKR
Browse the slots lobby, where games are grouped by studio and by mechanic. Each game page shows the studio's published volatility and maximum win. Where the studio permits it, you can try a demo first to see how the feature behaves before playing for real.
Play responsibly
A bonus round is still a game of chance. Set a budget before you start, use the deposit limit in the app, and stop when you planned to. See our Responsible Gaming page for tools and support.
Frequently asked questions
Are free spins in a slot really free?
The spins inside a game's feature round do not cost an extra stake when triggered by scatters, but you paid for the spin that triggered them. If you use bonus buy, you pay a price to enter the round.
Does JOKR offer promotional free spins?
The promotions page does not list a promotional free spins offer. Check the promotions page for the current offers and the bonus terms for their conditions.
What is a retrigger?
A retrigger happens when you land enough scatters during a free spins round and the game adds more spins to the ones you already have.
Can I try a free spins round in demo mode?
Where the studio allows a demo, you can open it from the game page and see the feature without real stakes. Some studios do not offer a demo.
Do free spins make me more likely to win?
No. They are a game feature with outcomes set by the slot's design, and results are never guaranteed. Play only with money you can afford to lose.
